KOWS 92.5 FM radio broadcast recording above of the Scent of Light episode from Radio Spotlight Magazine with host Andre' Marc, includes background music Andre' has chosen: Manose Suskera, Solo Bamboo Flute; Label: 2002 Garuda Records); and comments by Andre's guests on what they just heard.  By way of a comedy of errors the episode on Peace was repeated for this show, this time with more fitting background music.  I hope it is favorable synchronicity in the timing to the needs of listeners to the radio show. This episode on Peace is also available without music background for the show of November 25, 2018.

Transcript

Welcome to the Scent of Light. This is Ken Norton. Today I’d like to talk about Peace. Peace is one of my mentor’s Ten Words to the Creative Spirit, in which he penned: "Give me peace so an angelic spirit accompanies me wherever I go."

I’ve come to realize that this peace is of the Soul, and many Souls affect the community's and nation’s peace. If I feel not at peace, there is a worry, something feels not complete, and this is the time for that prayer. There is some Angelic spirit, that is, some energy or mix of energies which is past my understanding at the moment, that is poised to transform the moment, perhaps as a welcome resource or as an encouraging remembrance to apply to this moment. Peace is knowing we are not alone in our living our life, that we support others and others support us, where others can be non Human as well. I definitely have gained peace at times just with my little dog nudging me when it feels me needing comfort. Little Rosey respects her dependence on the humans who adopted her for her food and shelter. She is doing what is natural, and that is to express that angelic spirit as a snuggle.

No matter what the circumstance, even in disasters of fire, torrential rains, or a quaking earth, and among an angry crowd, peace can be called from within, and from this state guidance for the next step is received. I have learned to get to know the feeling of this peace in daily meditation visits to the Stillness within. Here in the still place I sense my breathing, my heart pulse and more subtle vibrations of my body cells interacting with the environment. Even in tense situations, these vibrations are still present, just not at the focus of attention, as we tend to the danger at hand. When the story of worry raises its concerns, I have learned to first zero my mind instrument spewing the rapidly evolving story, and then sense the situation as it is, without the overlay of the story spurred by fear, while noticing the intuitive guidance dropping into my consciousness. This intuition may be fed by wisdom that I have gained from past encounters with danger, or by wisdom shared by another, or a synthesis of this wisdom with the wholly new.

Where ever I have read of angels in the scriptures considered sacred by the religionso f the world, these angels have been seen as extraordinary means to change a level of consciousness, from disease to health, from danger to safety. As a child I was taught that I had a guardian angel. That guardian angel spirit appeared most often as my parents in those early years. Now I recognize it in family and friends when they show up in my need. Angels are given many names due to all the possible mixes of energies that gather for our experiences. I am not interested in expounding the particulars of angelology, but I would like to impress that we need not fear there is a lack of ability of the universe coming to our aid, which could well manifest differently than our past experience would expect.

Peace allows us to meet all of our experiences with an attitude that a welcome change is coming.

I will close this episode with this poem by my mentor on peace, which he composed in his 90th year:

         Self-knowledge
                      by William Hermanns

And you long so for peace!
Where does your peace abide?
Shall others give you peace -
then God remains outside.
Peace never has been owned
by a religious crew.
Self-knowledge lights your soul,
lights God in you.
